guest speaking.

I have given talks at institutions such as the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Indiana University Bloomington, Utah State University, the Manhattan School of Music, the Sa’Oaxaca International String Festival, Eastern Michigan University, SphinxConnect - and would love to come speak with your students, too! Music schools now are responsible for producing not only great artists, but responsive citizens as well. Discussions around repertoire, equitable programming, and how integrate new styles into our practice are increasingly important conversations to bring into our classrooms. Session options (can be in-person or virtual!) -

Justice through Repertoire - Equitable Programming

How do we approach socio-political discussions through our art making to have a deeper(and responsible) impact within our community? This talk is for performers, programmers, and composers to address how we can enact social change on the concert stage. We’ll cover the basics of how to initiate a project, how to workshop a new piece, and funding options for projects. In addition to commissions, this talk includes resources for expanding our repertoire awareness, templates for equitable programming, and discussions on reframing the concert experience to be more interactive.

Tango Performance Styles

A session for string players and composers to explore tango as a concert music. The workshop will include an overview of tango’s history, common rhythmic and harmonic choices made in the genre, and demonstrations of specific techniques. We’ll work together to translate these sounds to conversations with Western classical music and how the two can interact. This session includes sharing scores for solo instruments, small chamber groups, and large ensembles as well as practice resources for players.
